EXTENSION TRAINING CENTRE

INTRODUCTION

The Extension Training Centre (ETC), Pukpui, Lunglei started functioning in the month of February, 2003 with Government of India’s Permission No.T.19013/2/03-Trg Dt.15/1/2003. ETC have its own complex which spread over an area of 435 sq.m of land at Pukpui, Lunglei and is functioning proficiently. The Jurisdiction of the Centre consist of three Southern Districts of Mizoram, namely Lunglei, Siaha and Lawngtlai. As a Training Centre, the main activities to be taken up are conducting trainings on various Rural Development programmes. Generally, the clientele group under the training course is the village/grassroots level. The ETC caters to the training needs of all block level extension officials, beneficiaries of Rural Development Programmes and projects, NGOs, CBOs, VLAA members, member of local institutions and all other block and village level organizations and workers.

PHYSICAL INFRASTRUCTURE

The Centre has an Administrative Building which includes rooms for the Office of the Principal, three Faculties, Establishment Section, Training Hall/Classroom, Conference Hall and Library. The Centre also has Guest House and two Hostel Buildings and also has Quarters for Principal and Faculties.

The Centre is equipped with different training infrastructures like LCD Projectors, Computers with Printers, Laptops, Slide Projector, Colour Television Sets, Digital Video Cameras, Public Address System etc. and necessary furniture for the training Hall and the Conference Hall. OBJECTIVE OF THE INSTITUTE The main objectives of the Centre are helping the people to mould their quality, their vision for themselves, and their wills to create and act upon their needs that will finally determine the development of the society. To meet this challenge, the Institute envisions to:

  • Administer training to improve knowledge, skills and attitudes of the officials and non-officials in planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of rural development programmes;
  • Conduct field study and research to identify ways and means of rural development;
  • Provide extension services towards technology and information dissemination to the rural poor;
  • Participate in the process of planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of rural development programmes;
  • Provide consultancy on issues relating to Rural Development;
  • Organise conferences/consultation meetings for discussions, interchange of ideas and experiences involving officials, experts, scholars and civic leaders; and
  • Establish strong working relationship/linkages with active GO and NGO partners in Rural Development endeavors.

FINALCIAL REPORT

The Extension Training Centre (ETC) is receiving funds in the form of recurring and non-recurring grants from Government of India. The Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India is releasing recurring grant every year for the ETC. The Government of Mizoram is also releasing yearly recurring grant as a state share. The ETC prepare its physical and training infrastructure development proposal under non-recurring grant and submit to the Ministry of Rural Development through National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD)/State Government.
