EXCISE & NARCOTICS

EXCISE & NARCOTICS DEPARTMENT AT AGLANCE:

Previously the Department was under the control of Revenue Department and later it was combined with Taxation Department

Excise & Narcotics dept was declared as the state Nodal Agency for the purpose and administration of NDPS Act 1985 by the Government of Mizoram in 1992

Since then, it took initial steps in combating of illicit drug trafficking within the State.

The Mizoram Liquor prohibition & Control Act,2014 (Act No. 8 of 2014) was passed in the Assembly on 10^th July 2014.

Governor gave assent on 11^th July 2014, the Act came into force on 15^th January 2015

Liquor Vendor open on 16^th March 2015 under MLPC Act,2014

The name Excise & Narcotics Department was re-name as Excise & Narcotics Department on 16.10.2006.

STRUCTURE AND ORGANISATION

Commissionerate of Excise & Narcotics, Aizawl, Mizoram was the headquarters of Excise & Narcotics Department.

Under Commissionerate there are Prosecution Branch, Anti-Narcotics Squad, Bonded Warehouse and Micro-Brewery.

District Officer are administered from Commissionerate, Aizawl Mizoram

District are headed by Asst. Commissioner of Excise & Narcotics

There are 7(seven) stationed out of 8(eight)District, functioning Excise & Narcotics Department

There are 8(eight) Excise & Narcotics Stations in Mizoram.

LUNGLEI EXCISE & NARCOTICS

Lunglei Excise & Narcotics Department was established on 26.7.1983 as Excised Department Lunglei. At that time it was headed by Superintendent of Excise & Taxation. From 30.1.1986 the Department was headed by Superintendent of Excise, the first Superintendent was Pu Lalbiakmawia Khiangte the then Commissioner of Excise & Narcotics

.In the year 1993 the Department was separated from Taxation Dept and was headed by Commissioner of Excise and the first Commissioner was Pu R.Lalzauva.

Previously, all the District Excise & Narcotics Dept was headed by Superintendent, on 26.6.2018 the Govt of Mizoram re-designated the post of Superintendent of Excise & Narcotics to Asst Commissioner of Excise & Narcotics. Hence, Lunglei District was now headed by Asst. Commissioner of Excise & Narcotics and the following are now functioning for the government

Prosecution Staff – Headed by Prosecuting Officer

The Department is one of the nodal department in executing MLPC Act ’14 and NDPS Act ’85 and is responsible in detection, investigation of the said act. The Department is equip with Vehicle, Arms and Wireless Communication facilities.

The Department is having its own building situated at Venglai, Lunglei in the D.C’^S Office Complex. The present strength of the Department is under as on 4.7.2018

HOW TO:

Case Register: Whenever there is a case Under MLPC Act ’14 & NDPS Act ’85, it was register in the General Register(G.R) and after that it was forwarded to Magistrate for further legal proceeding.

Liquor Card/Permit & Excise Duty: It was take care by Establishment staff as necessary.
