About One District One Product (ODOP)
Banana crop has been selected in Lunglei District under One District One Product. At present the area of Banana crop in Lunglei District is 1113.875 Hectares whos production is 13232.50 MT.
Wide range of Banana variety cultivated in the district such as Cavendish variety, Grandnaine, Chinichampa, Kanch-kala, Bombay green. Off all these 90% cultivation is dominated by Cavendish. Apart from conventional sales of fresh Banana, the district is moving forward with Banana processed foods in the form of beverages / Juice, Banana Flour as food additives and Banana Chips.
